Alex Buckman Studio strives to take advantage of new manufacturing processes and techniques while seamlessly integrating effective and trustworthy traditional techniques.

We recognise the importance of well crafted and well thought out objects that serve their function while celebrating the strong emotional response through the physical and visual elements of an object. These qualities are evident in all of our award winning work.

Alex Buckman graduated with a Masters Degree in Industrial Design from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. After university he worked for Weta Workshop as part of the 3D design team where he designed props for movies. He then moved on to Fisher & Paykel Appliances where he honed his skills in human centred design.

Lighting has always been a passion for Alex and in 2018 he decided to pursue this work full time. He now collaborates with clients to produce bespoke feature lighting and designs for New Zealand’s leading furniture and lighting companies.
